The Comings and Goings of Autumn by Kyle Sims

The Comings of Goings of Autumn

The draw of the landscape is really what began this piece and the overall shape the band

of aspens took on. Some nice color never hurts either. I also enjoyed playing with

textures and dry-brushing to create the illusion of detail. But it appears effortless and

sketchy. When I did come upon this landscape shot, I instantly pictured this trio in there

places and it just reminded me of the constant movements of not only the changing

landscape, but how far these moose roam on a daily basis. Some days they will remain in

an certain area, but a bull moose can venture on for miles in search of a mate. One

minute he will be motionless and then before you know it, he’ll be off and they can really

move.
