Mother’s Shadow

One of the best memories that I bring back with me after a fall moose outing is the

connection between a cow moose and her calf. That calf rarely loses sight of its mother

and in the event that that does happen, it's off to the races to find her. This piece as well

as the bobcat is meant to be intimate and a bit of a portrait of the mammal. I felt that the

best way to accomplish that with this piece was to keep the surroundings minimal in

color variety and also minimal in depth. I was beginning to get worried that this lack of

variety might lead to a boring piece, but I was pleasantly surprised in the end at how

intimate the piece became.
