Comforts of the Willows by Kyle Sims

Comforts of the Willows

Last fall, an artist friend, named George Bumann, and I came upon a bull moose that I

had encountered with my wife, Joylene, the previous year. Unfortunately, we soon

discovered that he had injured his front-right leg and didn’t move much during the three

days we were visiting. But nonetheless, he sure appeared quite comfortable, nestled into

the high grasses and willow as he recuperated. While we were there, it was quite cool

and wet. In fact, it became cold enough to snow overnight one night which left a nice,

soft trickle of snow on the bull which we have now named “Shovels”, due to the large

formation of the front of his antlers.
