Reflections of a Journey
The geography of the northern portion of North America is defined by an intricate and extensive network of water-ways. For centuries the Native peoples traveled this vast region in birchbark canoes trading, hunting and communicating. When the Europeans arrived, they recognized the value of the birchbark canoe and soon adopted it as the main means of transportation.
